Defining Moment

It was January 29th 1973 when I had my accident that rendered me spinal cord injured with paralysis in Big Bear CA. I was with Joe Kapsch who is in this photo with me at a concert in Cal St Chico in 1974. Also with us that life changing day, Kate Dolan and Margie Dowling. Never mind my eyes LMAO !. Also Joe is one of my best friends and as fate would have it lives here in NC. Now I don't celebrate this day but I am grateful for it and Gods plan. I am good in my skin . Happy with who I am and who I am still becoming. If not for the injury who would I be ?

Traveling as a Disabled Athlete, by Ella Moss

Traveling always has the potential for hassle. Security lines, delays and discomfort are pretty much standard for today’s traveler. For sports people who have to travel to meets, competitions and games across the country traveling is often the part they look least forward to, making them tired and tense. For disabled sportsmen and women, it can be far worse. Not only might you have a lot of equipment, you have the extra worry of people treating you badly or not knowing how to deal with you.

One LUCKY Deer!

One LUCKY Deer!

Back in December,  I went hunting with my brother on his property at Lake Lookout, NC. It was Black Powder season and My brother Steve had set up a nice ground blind for me with easy access. "just the way I like it " ! we got in the blind about 6 15am, ouch! The sunrise was spectacular which makes hunting even that much more enjoyable.

R.I.P       B-RAD

 
When you truly become a coach in the NWBA and you sustain that over a long time with kids and youth there is a wonderful gift to be given and received. Those children grow in front of your eyes exactly like your own children. They also become friends and FAMILY for life. I have experienced this myself many, many times. Once you have gone to war with a teammate and suffered or succeeded together a bond is formed that can not be broken.
